Kaya is 3 months old, weighs 8 1/2 pounds and is a good eater. She is very happy, smiles all the time and is very aware. She loves to read books with her mommy and takes lots of naps.

It’s Kaya!

Our strong willed Kaya was born with a hole in her heart and had it repaired at four months old. These are some of her photos pre-surgery. The surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital made a huge difference in her appearance, as her body was not able to process the nutrients as her breathing was so rapid.

Baby’s 1st Christmas.

We have continued to enjoy our Thanksgiving angel. The house is quiet now and we have had a chance to lay around and get to know her personality. Like most newborns, her needs are around the clock; nursing, pooping & peeing and sleeping. She had a rough start at home due to a high bilirubin count aka jaundice. We rented a portable biliblanket which lowerd her count after 3 days. We celebrated her first real poop last night which helps to pass the bilirubin. Her color and mood improved after this.

Kaya was born at 4:56pm, or at 1656 military time which happens to be the last 4 digits of our phone number (cool!). She is a very healthy baby weighing just under 6lbs.

Kim’s water broke at 1:15am. By 2am we were at the hospital. They induced her at 5:30am and little Kaya joined the world almost 12 hours later.

We were able to leave the hospital 24hrs later and are now home. Kim & Kaya are doing great. What a thanksgiving with our own lil’ pumpkin!
